What are the After School Program hours?Program hours are from school dismissal until 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Extended Stay is available up to 6:30 p.m for an additional fee. After 5:00 p.m., Extended day students will go to a homework class until picked up.

Are programs offered on school holidays?Full or Half Day Camp programs may be offered during certain school holidays for an additional fee. Families will be notified in advance the days the programs will be offered, and run, if enrollment is met.

Where is the program located?The AS Program is located in the PS196Q school building.

Where is the pick up location?Grades K & 1: PS196 Main Entrance, starting at 4:40 p.m. Grades 2 - 5: PS196 Old Main Entrance starting at 4:40 p.m.-4:55 p.m. (5 p.m. pick-up only) After 4:55 p.m. all grades will be picked up at the main entrance.

Can my child go home on their own?A student can self dismiss at their designated pick up time with written permission from their parent or guardian. Permission must include date, child’s name, grade, signature, day/days and time that the students can leave the after school program.

Is there bus service?There is no bus service for the After School Program. All students must be picked up at the PS196Q main entrance or self-dismissed with written permission.

Who are the teachers and coaches?Our teachers and coaches are a mix of PS196Q school day teachers and professional instructors supplied by our partner vendors.

Can I send snacks or food with my child for after school?Yes. Please send snacks/food in a separate bag labeled with the child’s name and “AS Program Snack”. We strongly advise families to send snacks/food if their child has food allergies or dietary restrictions.

What do I do if my child comes home without a book or personal property?Email maria@afterschoolps196.org regarding missing items. Labeled items will be returned to your child’s class. Unlabeled items will be placed in the Lost & Found area.
